Boulder Rides: 1. Walker Ranch. Take Flagstaff road about 5 miles, when you start winding down, look for the trailhead parking on your left. Difficult trail, lots of climbing!!! 7.5 miles long. 1 hour and 15 minutes.. roughly the same either way. Loop. 2. Hall Ranch. Take 7 out of Lyons, Hall about 1 mi out of Lyons. Ride is out and back with a loop at the end. Total ride is about 10 miles. The initial climb is steep and technical. Good for intermediates and above. 1.5 hours to 2 hours dependingon fitness. Mammoth Rides: 1. Lower Rock Creek. the best riding in Mammoth. 9 miles of downhill! you can shuttle it or ride up the road. in 3 sections. 3rd section is advanced only. hwy 395 just south of Tom's Place. 2. Shady Rest. about 95% roads, but some fun riding, good for training. 3. Mammoth Mountain. the best trail is Ricochet. Mostly loose pumice, not very technical. X-Zones provide some good challenges. openslate june. 4. Sunny Slopes. 100% road. not ridable in summer. good for training in winter. |
