ride: 1. Walker Ranch. Take Flagstaff road about 5 miles, when you start winding down, look for the trailhead parking on your left. Difficult trail, lots of climbing!!! 7.5 miles long. 1 hour and 15 minutes.. roughly the same either way. Loop.

2. Hall Ranch. Take 7 out of Lyons, Hall about 1 mi out of Lyons. Ride is out and back with a loop at the end. Total ride is about 10 miles. The initial climb is steep and technical. Good for intermediates and above. 1.5 hours to 2 hours depending on fitness.

3. Heil Ranch. Take 36 north out of Boulder, hang a left on Left Hand Canyon road and Heil will be on your right. A good climb, but easy technically.

4. Betasso Preserve. A great place for beginners. Very short trail with plenty of hikers. Not at all technical and very little climbing. Please follow directional signs. Mountain bikers have to go the proper direction.

eat in Longmont:

Tim's Thai! Yes, there is good Thai, in Longmont!!! Tim's Thai has great Spring Rolls and curries. But you haven't had Tim's Thai until you've had Tim's ice cream!!! The all-time best flavor is Strawberry-Basil, with fresh Basil leaves. The Thai Coffee is also good, but the flavor list is long, including Coconut, Avacado, Chipotle-Chocolate,Orange and so on. The downside to Tim's? Only open for dinner, and closed on Sundays. Even God has to take a day off, so I guess it's ok!

eat in Boulder:

boulder is big on local business, but i have to recommend chipotle, a burrito chain. their enormous burritos filled with only fresh made daily goodies are the best in the world, hands down. forget your dry white toast and 4 fried chickens and get yourself a burrito, baby! this is very fresh food.

chipotle, pearl street boulder, or in longmont on 119 by starbucks and papa john's. also on Pearl Street near University Cycles. Chipotle now uses all natural chicken and beef! check out the web site!

Himalaya, located in boulder on 14th near pearl and the boulder theater. also on 119 in longmont near the gart's sports. lunch buffet of indian/tibetan/nepalese food. extremely high quality food! i recommend the smashed/curried eggplant and the tandoori chicken. as always get the chai (indian tea) for dessert. awesome service! 303.442.3230.

The Med Excellent Mediterranean food! on Walnut Street in Boulder. Tapas, yum! and pizza and pasta! Great meat dishes- something for everyone. A very popular and busy restaurant, open for lunch and dinnner. Salads are excellent too! 1002 Walnut Street Boulder, Colorado 80302 Phone 303-444-5335 Fax 303-444-6451 Downtown parking validated Web site

stuff to do:

1. the freak show on the Pearl Street Mall is always fun. look for a houdini type, a guy with a chain contraption, plenty of panhandlers, hippie kids who wanna be street bums and window shopping for the wealthy. no dogs allowed on the Mall, so don't even try it, they will ticket you!

2. Boulder Theater, it's always something cool there, check local listings.

3. Leanin' Tree Museum in the Gunbarrel neighborhood. You know, the cards with cowboy art and western scenes... very cool! Take 119/Diagnoal Hwy towards Longmont, on your right in Gunbarrel.

4. IMBA, Pearl Izumi and many other companies are here!
